Shakshouka – The Best Egg Dish in The World…Literally!

Shakshouka is a delicious middle eastern egg recipe cooked with a tomato sauce base and some mild spices. It is extremely simple to make and will instantly become your favourite choice for a meal. It is a global favourite and undoubtedly one of the best egg recipes in the world. You can have it all for yourself right here!


4 medium tomatoes, diced

3 eggs

1 tbsp crushed garlic

1 onion, diced

1 tbsp hot sauce

1 tbsp oil

1/4 tsp pepper

Salt to taste


  • Heat oil in a pan. Fry the onion until golden brown.
  • Add the crushed garlic and fry for a few seconds.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  • Let the tomatoes cook for 10-15 minutes till a thick sauce is formed. Keep stirring in breaks.
  • Add hot sauce, salt, and pepper to the sauce.
  • Once the sauce is completely ready and all the tomatoes have melted away, break open three eggs gently into the pan.
  • Now let the eggs cook over low heat. You can do the eggs as you like it. I like my yolks a little runny. 😉
  • And that’s it! It’s done. Sprinkle some coriander on top and serve!
