Here is a deliciously simple toasted sandwich recipe with multi-grain bread, mushroom and caramelised onions. Along with its healthy ingredients, it is also quite filling. So if you are a sucker for sandwiches, try this wholesome one which will barely take you 20 minutes to prepare.
Try it out yourself and I promise it will not disappoint.
Here’s the recipe:
INGREDIENTS
2 pieces of multi-grain bread
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup chopped mushrooms
1/4 cup broccoli
1 tbsp crushed garlic
1 medium onion, chopped
Cheese spread
Lettuce
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp pepper
PROCEDURE
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic. Fry for a few seconds and add the onion.
- Fry the onion for a minute and set it on one side, keeping the other side of the pan free.
- While the onion cooks, add the mushroom and broccoli on the other side of the pan and let it cook.
- Add salt and pepper to the mushroom and broccoli and mix well while the onion is cooking on the other side.
- Stir both the sides separately, till the onion is caramelised and the vegetables are cooked.
- Take this off and on the same pan, toast two pieces of multi-grain bread till crunchy.
- On a piece of bread, apply a layer of your favourite cheese spread.
- Next, add a lettuce leaf on top. After this, add the caramelised onion, followed by the mushroom and broccoli fry.
- Add another lettuce leaf on top and cover it with another bread piece.
- Your crunchy sandwich is ready!
The scope for improvisation on this is endless. You can add your favourite vegetables and some chicken too! This toasted sandwich is simple and power-packed with flavours. Try it out and let us know how it went.
