Today’s Slurrp recipe is a sinful and gloriously gratifying chicken sub sandwich. Do not go by this simple name as ingredients also include crunchy vegetables, some sweetness and of course, cheese!
This is a non-grilled version and can take a little bit of time, but the end result will be worth the small effort. Here’s the recipe for one complete footlong sub sandwich.
INGREDIENTS
1 whole garlic loaf
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 onion, diced
1 cup chopped mushroom
1 cup chopped capsicum
1/2 cup tomato ketchup
2 chicken sausages, cut into small pieces
2 cups chopped lettuce
2 tbsp mayonnaise (keep some extra for layering the base of the bread)
1 tbsp mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
PROCEDURE
- Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the sausages until crisp. Set them aside.
- Next, fry the onions with the leftover oil. Add garlic and fry for a few more minutes.
- Add the mushroom and let it cook for about two minutes.
- Add salt, pepper and tomato ketchup. Stir well and set it aside.
- In a large bowl, add chopped capsicum, lettuce and the cooked mushroom and onion.
- To this, add mayonnaise and mustard and mix well. Set it aside.
- Now take a garlic loaf and cut it open. Add mayonnaise on the bread and then layer it with the mushroom and lettuce mix.
- Add the fried chicken sausage pieces on top.
- As a final topping, add 4-5 cheese slices and your sandwich it ready!
